Primary cementing constructs the foundation of TAQA’s pressure-pumping business. We have cemented wells with depths deeper than 22,000 ft, cement slurry volumes of more than 1,400 bbls, and circulating temperatures greater than 350 DegF, from light to heavy density slurries, providing solutions for challenging wellbore environments from shallow gas, extended reach wells, to HP/HT critical wells.

Design Improvements

TAQA is constantly evolving its processes to help improve well integrity and achieve effective long-term zonal isolation during the different phases of the well, using advanced software to simulate downhole wellbore conditions precisely. In addition, understanding the criticality of cement design, TAQA utilizes stress modeling software in the design phase to evaluate the impact of the induced stresses on cement sheath during the different stages of the well providing an adequate slurry system to achieve long-term zonal isolation.

Cementing Laboratory

Constructed in 2019, TAQA’s cementing lab is fully furnished with the highest equipment standard to enhance further the extent of technical support offered across our oil field operations. TAQA’s advanced Cementing and Stimulation Laboratories use industry-leading technologies exclusively. The central operation Lab is in the Well Services Base in Dammam, where our technical team unites a broad range of expertise. These laboratories are used for testing a variety of fluids associated with Cementing and Stimulation treatments, obtaining optimal results to generate improved solutions with a higher success ratio. In addition, the laboratories consistently run quality control tests on materials used in the field to ensure that they meet TAQA’s specifications.

TAQA retains a comprehensive fleet of the most advanced cementing equipment that can perform cement jobs under a broad range of well conditions, including varying cement slurries densities, volumes, pressures, and flowrates.

Cementing Job Design Software

TAQA uses the most advanced cementing software for designing cement jobs. It helps the engineers to make informed decisions regarding the placement and minimizes risk throughout the well’s life. Cementing hydraulic model helps to simulate the downhole wellbore conditions for different types of applications, it provides accurate circulating temperatures, expected job pressure, and displacement efficiency. It facilitates the calculation and optimizes centralizer placement, pump rates, and spacer properties to achieve effective mud removal and better cement coverage. The cementing models also predict contamination during cement placement for both casing and cement plugs applications and helps mitigating it, leading to higher success rate. Stress modeling is another software that our engineers use to assess the impact of the stresses due to the temperature and pressure changes during the life of the well.
