The 2nd Saudi Arabia International Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (SAOGE 2009) was held from 01–03 November 2009 at the Dhahran International Exhibitions Center in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The main challenges facing the oil and gas exploration and production sector were addressed during the conference. As a gold sponsor of the event, the Industrialization and Energy Services Company (TAQA) was a major participant in SAOGE 2009.
In his press releases to several newspapers, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Jarbou, Chairman of the Board of TAQA, said that “such an event is the preferred venue to bring together oil producers and specialist companies under one roof, and to stimulate introductions and cooperation between solution seekers and providers”.
Dr. Al-Jarbou further added that “"what differentiates SAOGE is its specialized focus which is directly in line with TAQA’s strategic orientation, in comparison to other exhibitions where several sectors are covered at one time, leading to a waste of time and effort.
When asked about the impact of the global financial crisis on oil and gas production and services, Dr. Al-Jarbou confirmed that "oil and gas activities are not short-term in nature, in fact the majority of exploration and production programs are carried out over a medium or long term time frame”; he further added that “companies which can overcome turbulent times are likely to achieve higher returns in the future by being better prepared to seek opportunities at the end of the crisis.”
